Martin Offiah’s son rejects rugby league club to sign with rugby union powerhouse

According to The Telegraph, Tyler Offiah, son of rugby legend Martin Offiah, has inked a three-year deal with Bath Rugby Union after completing his A Levels.

Despite the chance to follow in his father’s footsteps at Wigan Warriors, where Martin achieved fame with an impressive record of 186 tries in 159 games, Tyler opted for Bath. Martin’s illustrious career also saw him play for Widnes, London Broncos, and Salford City Reds.

Martin’s legacy includes five league titles, four Challenge Cups, a World Club Challenge victory, and 33 caps for Great Britain, where he notched 26 tries.

Choosing Bath over offers from Sale Sharks, Leicester, and Gloucester, Tyler is determined to surpass his father’s achievements. “One of my aims is to be better than Dad,” Tyler stated to The Telegraph.

“Yes, that’s definitely a driver for me. I’m definitely very ambitious, I’ve got all my goals written down in a journal.”

“They include playing for the senior England side, going on a British and Irish Lions tour, and becoming the highest try-scorer in Premiership history.”
