Although he began refereeing in 1999, it wasn’t until 2015 that he became a full-time referee. In that same year, he refereed at his inaugural Rugby World Cup, and in 2018 he presided over the Super Rugby final.
His exceptional performance earned him the title of World Rugby Referee of the Year in 2018.
