Nick Isiekwe statement: Lock returns after five months out

England lock Nick Isiekwe will make his long-awaited comeback after five months out in Friday’s Premiership trip to London Irish.

The 24-year-old has not played since England’s tour to Australia in July after needing surgery on a unspecified issue in September.

At the time, Isiekwe was expected to be out of action for “several months”.

He thanked “everyone involved” in his route back to fitness saying they had “kept him strong throughout”.

Isiekwe said: “I’m incredibly excited to be back with the boys!

“I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in this process and kept me strong throughout. I hope to add to this group and keep moving forward with the squad!”
