In a bombshell revelation, over 200 retired rugby players, including England’s World Cup champion Phil Vickery and former Welsh fly-half Gavin Henson, are suing three of the sport’s governing bodies over neurological injuries.
The legal action involves notable figures such as England’s World Cup winners Steve Thompson and Mark Regan.
The players, seeking justice, must bide their time as London’s High Court recently mandated a wait until next year for the decision on their application for a group litigation order (GLO).
Thompson, who disclosed his early onset dementia diagnosis in December 2020, adds a poignant dimension to the lawsuit against World Rugby, England’s Rugby Football Union (RFU), and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).
