The speedster sent a timely reminder to Eddie Jones as he scored a clever brace as Northampton moved up to fourth in the Premiership by beating Exeter 26-19 at Franklin’s Gardens.

Asked if Freeman was the next man in the pecking order for England, Northampton director of rugby Phil Dowson said: “I think Eddie is obviously a big fan and when I’ve chatted to him about it in the past he’s been very positive about him.

“We were really pleased to have him back for this evening, but for how much longer he stays in our environment – I don’t know.”



Tommy Freeman facts:
