“Remember That?” – 10 England Players You Totally Forgot Played in the Six Nations

4. Paul Doran-Jones (2 Caps – 2011 Six Nations)

Paul Doran-Jones was called up into the England squad for the 2009 Autumn Internationals, as injury cover for Mark Wilson. The former Harlequins back-row impressed on his maiden test, yet did not make selection for the 2010 Six Nations. The former Gloucester and Harlequins bided his time for the following year, and made replacement appearances against Scotland and Ireland in the following year’s tournament.

5. Charlie Sharples (1 Cap – 2012 Six Nations)

After being selected to play for England in the U20s Six Nations, Charlie Sharples was on the international radar for the forthcoming senior Championships. The wing continued to impress at Gloucester, and played a pivotal role in the Cherry and Whites’ Anglo-Welsh Cup in of 2010/11. Sharples was rewarded for his efforts with a call-up into the England squad for the 2012 Six Nations, and made his sole appearence against France, after David Strettle was forced off with an injury. Sharples went on to make five additional test caps for England.

6. Paul Hill (1 Cap – 2016 Six Nations)

The 2016 Six Nations is fondly remembered by England fans, as it marked the country’s 13th and latest Grand Slam in ‘Rugby’s Greatest Championship’. This feat ended a 13 year long wait for all the silverware to return to Twickenham, and came under Eddie Jones’ first crack at the tournament. However, less memorable was tight-head prop Paul Hill’s sole Six Nations appearence, as he came off the bench for Dan Cole for an 11 minute run-out against Italy. England hammered the Azzurri 40-9 away in Rome, with the former Northampton Saints front rower getting his sole taste of Six Nations action that afternoon.
