REPORT: Finn Russell to leave Racing 92 for ‘new challenge’

Reports this morning suggest that Scotland international Finn Russell’s time with French heavyweights Racing 92 will soon end.

It’s been widely reported across the Channel that All Blacks star Beauden Barrett will join the Parisians following the 2023 Rugby World Cup, which would surely spell the end for the 30-year-old at the Paris La Defense Arena.

He has been consistently linked with a big-money move to Japan, though RUCK sources suggest the playmaker would prefer to stay in Europe if a tempting offer presented itself.

Russell, who will soon become a first-time father with his partner, beautiful model and Scottish heptathlete Emma Canning, would likely favour a return to Glasgow Warriors to be close to family.

One strange rumour from Rugby Pass linked him with a move to Graham Rowntree’s Munster in Ireland.

DID YOU KNOW? Russell was born into a sporting family. His father played a lot of racket sports, and worked in sports administration, including as Director of Domestic Rugby for the Scottish Rugby Union. His grandparents were international badminton players, his uncle and great-grandfather played Cricket for Scotland and his brothers are also noted rugby players
