REPORTS | Michael Hooper heading to the Gallagher Premiership?

Several high-profile Wallabies are set for short-term moves to the Gallagher Premiership next season, according to the  Sydney Morning Herald report.

Rugby Australia has stood down 75 per cent of its workforce and is to impose salary reductions on its Wallabies after forecasting losses of up £60m because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pay cut arrangements for players are finally set to be confirmed by Rugby Australia on Monday following lengthy discussions.

According to the report, to compensate for the loss of earnings, Rugby Australia are believed to have agreed that a half-dozen of its top stars will be permitted to seek out six-month contracts overseas outside of the international Test window.

Therefore Captain Hooper, along with Tevita Kuridrani, Matt Toomua and Dane Haylett-Petty will be given the green light to take up short term contracts.

The report suggests that only the Gallagher Premiership and the Japanese Top League are viable options for them before returning in time for the July 2021 Test schedule.
