REPORTS | Wasps close in on Springbok forward

Wasps are reportedly closing in on a move for a giant South African forward as Lee Blackett looks to strengthen his squad.

The Rugby Paper reported on Sunday that Wasps were talking to a South African lock who can also play back row – with a view to him joining as early as this week.

Online rumours suggest that player could be Jacques du Plessis, who has played in France for Montpellier since 2015.

He previously played for the Bulls in his homeland of South Africa.

The 6ft 7in tall 26-year-old fits the bill of being able to play both in the second and back rows.
