Here we run down FIVE internationals who are free agents and where they might end up…

1. Ben Foden

The 34-year-old former England fullback hasn't decided whether to commit to one more campaign with New York next year, or accept that his playing days ended abruptly, with a defeat away to San Diego on March 8.  There has also been some interest from France, with a number of ProD2 teams linked, including Beziers.

2. Sinoti Sinoti

The Samoa international is a free agent after departing Newcastle Falcons for personal reasons. He had made 110 appearances since joining in 2014, his side-stepping and power-packed contact skills making him a popular figure with the Falcons faithful. It'll be interesting to see where he pops up next.

3. Brodie Retallick

The 28-year-old is back in New Zealand after his Kobe Steelers sabbatical was cut short by the COVID-enforced cancellation of the Japanese league. However, the lock has rejected an offer from Super Rugby side The Chiefs to remain a free agent. He's reportedly having a bit of a break with his family before making his return.

4. Dan Carter

He is a free agent once again after his stint with the Blues came to an end. In April, he quit the stalled Japanese scene where he won a title for the Kobe Steelers on the back of his success in France with Paris club Racing 92. The 35-year-old played 112 tests for New Zealand, winning 99 of them and scored 1598 points which remains an international record. It's expected he will move to Major League Rugby.

5. Kyle Eastmond

Eastmond, 30, made 74 appearances for St Helens before switching to union in 2011 with Bath, moving on to Wasps and then Leicester in 2018. At the time of Eastmond’s departure from Wasps, he was linked with a return to Super League with Warrington, but that was soon dismissed. It was thought that he could join Toronto Wolfpack, where he'd link up with All Black superstar Sonny Bill Williams, but the club has been disbanded after being booted out of Super League
