It can be hard for rugby players to deal with retirement – but former England, Scotland and New Zealand heroes are among those who at least get to continue living their dream through their sons.
#1. Reuben Logan (Wasps), son of Scotland international Kenny Logan
Gabby shares daughter Lois and son Reuben with husband Kenny Logan. Their 17-year-old son Reuben is currently an exciting back-row prospect with Wasps.
#2. CHARLIE BRACKEN (Saracens), son of England international Kyran Bracken
Charlie is already in the Saracens system, the club where his father enjoyed so much success, and Jack is also following the same pathway. ”Charlie is 17, with the Saracens academy and doing well,” said Bracken to RugbyPass.
“My middle son Jack is two years younger and is also on the Saracens course and my youngest son Lochlan, who is 11, is playing a year up and is outstanding. I haven’t really thought this through because I don’t think it is wise to have them all at the same club. I think I will have to farm them out!
#3. DAN LANCASTER (Leicester Tigers), son of Stuart Lancaster
The 21-year-old, who is an accomplished goal-kicker and capable of playing fly-half and centre, has joined Leicester Tigers after two seasons with his hometown club, Leeds Tykes.
Lancaster was a member of the England Under-20s squad who recorded a clean sweep of the 2021 Under-20s Six Nations on their way to a Championship.
#2. MURRAY REDPATH, son of Bryan Redpath
The scrum-half is the son of former Scotland captain Bryan and younger brother of Cameron, who made his full international debut in the Calcutta Cup win over England earlier this year.
#5. LUCAS BROOKE (London Irish), son of Zinzan Brooke
Brooke, who can play across the back-row or at hooker, grew up in England so is fully qualified to wear the red rose.
The London Irish powerhouse has represented Berkshire at county level and regularly played for his school, Wellington College.
His father, All Blacks No.8 Zinzan Brooke, possessed the unique talent of being both an agile forward and having an impressive kicking side to his game.
