9 Ben Youngs: Got the performance from the forwards he needed. Needling Aaron Smith into errors did England no harm either. Vast improvement. 7.5/10
1 Ben Moon: Very good performance. England’s fourth-choice loosehead didn’t look out of his depth against the world champions. 7.5/10
2 Dylan Hartley (co-captain): Thousand times better than last week, good at lineout and put New Zealand under pressure picking up and driving. Replaced at half-time by Jamie George, which seemed strange as he was brilliant while George was very poor. 8/10
3 Kyle Sinckler: Who needs the back row at the breakdown when the front row can show them how to do it. Excellent steal in first half and good clearing out work. 8/10
4 Maro Itoje: The performance everyone had hoped he'd have in the firsr half. Strong tackling, snaffled restarts and a nuisance around the tackle area, knocking New Zealand back. However, he was schooled by Retallick in the lineout in the second half. 7.5/10
5 George Kruis: Called lineouts and executed superbly. Also part of a vastly improved effort by England in attacking through rolling maul. 7/10
6 Brad Shields: Difficult emotional occasion against the country he dreamed of playing for but gave his all. 6.5/10
7 Sam Underhill: Astonishing first half in which he led a forward effort that suffocated the All Blacks, instilled confidence and won the battle at the breakdown. Could have scored the winning try if not for a dubious TMO call. 8.5/10
