Adam Jones has revealed why everyone should appreciate Joe Marler.
The Wales and Harlequins prop was in the midst of pre-season in San Francisco when news broke of his mother’s sudden death in August.
June Jones, 65, suffered fatal injuries as a result of a tragic accident and the 35-year-old recalls the moment he the news was broken to him by his wife in 2016.
“I was enjoying my pre-season, I got through the initial couple of weeks,” revealed Jones.
“The morning I found out — and I know he hasn’t got the best reputation in Wales — I was sharing with Joe Marler and if he hadn’t been there, I would have been in a heck of a mess. I would have really struggled,
“He was up with me at 4am sorting stuff out, getting me whatever I needed.
“He took me to get breakfast. Joe was brilliant with me that morning.”
June followed her son’s career around the world and was known for being a passionate, knowledgeable rugby fan, as well as being immensely proud of her Adam’s achievements.
