"R360 & France" - 5 possible destinations for Abby Dow as free agent misses start of PWR

Dow left the Ealing based side at the end of the 2024/25 PWR season, and a new club has not yet been confirmed for the electric wing. Dow was a free agent during the Red Roses' triumphant Women's Rugby World Cup campaign, with her skillsets showcased in the global shop window, as she bagged tries against the United States and Scotland, and starred upon the wing in the final against Canada.

The biggest clubs in the world would only be delighted to add Abby Dow to their roster, and in this article we have compiled five possible moves for the rapid England wing. Whilst there is little currently known about the women's side of the upcoming R360 breakaway league, the premise of an increased salary, in a globe-trotting competition with greater rest periods would be enticing to any player. Mike Tindall's rebellious project looks set to break the mold of the traditional rugby landscape, and the signing of Abby Dow to one of the four projected women's franchises would be a huge exclusive coup for R360.

The Cherry and Whites ended the Allianz Premier 15s era as league champions, before retaining back to back PWR titles with Rugby World Cup winning co-captains Zoe Aldcroft and Natasha Hunt at the helm.

The women's game in France is a sleeping giant of epic potential, which we could well see woken as murmurings of a Women's Champions Cup begin to grow. The first glimpse of this potential competition came from an EPCR conference some two years ago, and should it soon come to fruition, the forbidden door would swing wide open for continental clashes between the biggest PWR and Elite 1 sides.

In the men's game, the French Top 14 and Pro D2 have become leading destinations for exiled England players, with back row Tom Willis becoming the latest star to quit Steve Borthwick's side as recently as this week. Whilst the women's game has a stronghold in England, Dow could well become a trailblazer of her generation, should a lucrative offer appear on the table from Stade Bordelais, Toulouse or Romagnat. The stars of the Wallaroos and Black Ferns all mix it up in their respective Super Rugby leagues, and an out-of-country addition with the stardom of Abby Dow, could send shock-waves throughout the women's rugby landscape.

The men's game has seen plenty of England internationals gain a year or so of experience in either Australia or New Zealand, with James Haskell's Chiefs transfer, and Joe Marchant's Blues break coming to mind.
