Rugby Transfers: Northampton Saints confirms 14 departures this summer

The Premiership side had already announced the departure of nine squad and academy players, with five further senior departures now also confirmed.

In total, the departing group have made a combined 76 appearances in Black, Green and Gold, with Director of Rugby Phil Dowson reflecting on a “significant time of year” for the squad.

Saints will recognise all departing players after their final home game of the season against Gloucester Rugby on 30 May.

Below is a full breakdown of all players set to leave Franklin’s Gardens.

Loosehead prop Tom West departs after two seasons at Saints, having arrived from Saracens ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 30-year-old made 34 appearances in total, including a key role in Saints’ run to the Investec Champions Cup semi-final where he featured in the win over Leinster Rugby in Dublin.

A product of the Wasps RFC academy system, West passed 70 senior appearances for the Coventry-based club before their collapse in 2022, and also spent time at Leicester Tigers earlier in his career.

Injuries have disrupted his second season at Saints, limiting his involvement during the 2025/26 campaign. He has signed with Newcastle Red Bulls.

Back row forward Fyn Brown leaves after making 15 appearances and scoring 15 points for Saints.

He rebuilt his career following the demise of Wasps RFC with spells at Ampthill and Doncaster Knights before earning a move to Northampton in 2024.

Brown made an immediate impression, scoring tries against Nottingham and Leicester Tigers, and also featured in the Investec Champions Cup against Stade Français.

He added a further try in the 2025/26 PREM Rugby Cup and was part of the matchday squad for Saints’ notable away win at Bath Rugby.

Winger Will Glister exits after a promising spell in Northampton colours, scoring 30 points in 11 appearances.

He announced himself with a brace on debut against Ealing Trailfinders in the Premiership Rugby Cup and quickly followed up with another try against Cambridge.

Glister went on to score a decisive try on his Gallagher PREM debut against Newcastle Red Bulls at Kingston Park, helping Saints to a narrow victory.

During his time at the club he also featured in England Under-20 EPS squads, underlining his potential at international age-grade level.

Academy graduate Emeka Atuanya leaves Saints after seven senior appearances.

The second row made his debut off the bench in a win over Saracens in October 2022 and spent time gaining experience on loan at Bedford Blues and Chinnor in the Championship.

Atuanya’s development was recognised internally when he was nominated for the 2023/24 Coaches’ Player of the Season award, reflecting his impact within the squad environment even when not regularly featuring.

His most recent appearance came in the PREM Rugby Cup against Doncaster Knights.

Centre Billy Pasco departs after six senior appearances and a try for Saints.

A former Under-18 captain, he progressed through the Academy pathway before earning his senior debut in the PREM Rugby Cup against Nottingham in 2024.

Pasco went on to start against Leicester Tigers and scored his first senior try against Coventry at Franklin’s Gardens.

This season he has spent significant time on loan at Bedford Blues, where regular Championship minutes have formed a key part of his development, alongside further cup appearances for Saints.

Italy international hooker Marco Manfredi leaves after a short-term spell at Franklin’s Gardens, making three appearances.

Signed in October 2025 from Benetton Rugby, the 28-year-old was brought in to provide cover during an injury-hit period for Saints in the front row.

Manfredi, a three-cap Italy international, previously played for Zebre Parma and Calvisano and brought Test-level experience into the squad during his brief stay.

He featured in Premiership Rugby Cup matches against Harlequins, Newcastle Red Bulls and Leicester Tigers.

Forward Archie Appleby departs without a senior appearance but leaves with strong international and academy credentials.

The former England Under-18 international has represented Scotland Under-20s in the Six Nations this season, earning caps against Wales and France before starting against Ireland.

A former Sedbergh School head boy and Saints Under-18 captain, Appleby has also gained senior experience on loan at Bedford Blues in the Championship.

His progress has been disrupted by injuries, but he remains highly regarded within the pathway system.

Second row Jack Lawrence exits after captaining Saints Academy to the 2025 Academy League title at Kingsholm.

He stepped into the senior environment ahead of the 2025/26 season and spent time on loan at Cambridge in the Championship, making his senior competitive debut against Ampthill at just 18.

Lawrence has featured regularly for Cambridge this season, gaining valuable exposure in senior men’s rugby while continuing his development.

Back row Siep Walta also departs after playing a key role in Saints’ Academy League success in 2025.

The Netherlands age-grade international impressed throughout the campaign with his physicality and work rate from the back row.

He joined the Senior Academy while studying at Loughborough University on a performance pathway contract and previously attended Christchurch Boys’ High School, a renowned rugby nursery.

Prop Elliot Millar-Mills leaves Saints after adding experience and depth to the front row during his time at Franklin’s Gardens.

The 34-year-old is set to join Newcastle Red Bulls ahead of next season.

Millar-Mills brings extensive Premiership experience and international pedigree with Scotland, having built a reputation as a powerful scrummager and reliable set-piece operator throughout his career.

His move to the North East marks another chapter in a long-standing professional career across English and Scottish rugby.

Back row forward Sam Graham also departs Northampton after providing physicality and depth in the pack.

The 29-year-old will join Newcastle Red Bulls, linking up with a number of familiar faces in the North East.

Graham, known for his work rate and defensive presence, adds further Premiership experience to the Red Bulls’ forward pack following his spell at Saints.

Scrum-half Tom James leaves Franklin’s Gardens after a short stint in Northampton colours.

The former Saracens player has been a steady squad option, providing cover at nine and bringing game management experience from across his career.

He will move on to continue his career in the Premiership system, adding further depth and experience to his next club’s half-back options.

Australian winger James Ramm departs Saints after a productive spell in the back three.

The 28-year-old made a strong impression with his pace, aerial ability and finishing threat, scoring several important tries during his time at the club.

A former New South Wales Waratahs player, Ramm will return to Australia to join Western Force, continuing his career in Super Rugby.

Club stalwart George Furbank brings his Northampton Saints chapter to a close after a long and influential career at Franklin’s Gardens.

The 29-year-old England international has been a key figure in Saints’ backline, capable of playing at full-back and fly-half, and has captained the side during his time at the club.

A product of the Saints academy system, Furbank progressed through the pathway to become one of the club’s most important modern-era players, combining playmaking ability with tactical control and leadership.

He will join Harlequins ahead of next season, bringing down the curtain on a significant Northampton career that saw him develop from academy talent into a senior international.
