Scotland share new Six Nations squad details

The group features 21 forwards and 17 backs, combining experienced internationals with emerging talent. Rachel Malcolm retains the captaincy, leading a squad that includes 24 players involved in Scotland’s 2025 Rugby World Cup campaign, providing strong continuity ahead of the tournament.

Three notable players return to the setup. Playmaker Meryl Smith (Bristol Bears) is back after recovering from an ACL injury sustained in late 2024 and has since impressed in Premiership Women’s Rugby, topping the charts for both carries and goal-kicking.

Winger Shona Campbell (Sale Sharks) rejoins the international squad for the first time since 2024, having scored seven tries in the current domestic season. Meanwhile, experienced forward Louise McMillan returns in strong form after captaining Saracens to the PWR Cup title.

Scotland will, however, be without Lisa Thomson (foot) and Sarah Bonar (back), who are continuing their rehabilitation and remain unavailable for selection.

Fukofuka has also included seven development players, who will train alongside the senior squad while remaining eligible for the Scotland U21 Six Nations Series. These players impressed during the Celtic Challenge and the U20 Six Nations Summer Series.

The development group consists of forwards Holland Bogan, Emily Coubrough, Poppy Fletcher, Imogen Spence and Aicha Sutcliffe, along with backs Ceitidh Ainsworth and Rianna Darroch.

Several of these players, in addition to Alex Stewart, Aila Ronald, Hannah Walker and Hannah Ramsay, are part of Scottish Rugby’s new centralised programme based at Oriam.

The squad will convene at Oriam on Tuesday, 31 March. Scotland begin their Six Nations campaign away to Wales on April 11, before hosting England at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on April 18.

Fixtures against Italy and France follow, ahead of their final match against Ireland at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on May 17.
