The dream team trio of coaches who should replace Eddie Jones

We've been asking England fans who they'd like to replace Eddie Jones when he departs his role as head coach following the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

They've put together a trio of coaches described as the 'dream team' with all three being highly rated in their respective field.

Jones' time in the England hotseat seems to be coming to an end and a list of coaches in world rugby have been lined up to replace him.

But why have just one? We could easily form an exciting trio using three of the most popular contenders.

ENGLAND COACHING TEAM FOR 2023:

#HEAD COACH: Scott Robertson

The exciting New Zealander offers a dark horse option for the RFU.

Robertson would bring a fresh southern hemisphere approach and perspective, having gained a reputation as one of the most progressive and intuitive club coaches.

His Crusaders side are renowned for their attacking prowess, having won three successive Super Rugby titles and Super Rugby Aotearoa in 2020 and 2021.

#ATTACK COACH: Ronan O'Gara

O’Gara has now won Super Rugby (as an assistant with the Crusaders), the Top 14 (also as an assistant at Racing 92) and now Champions Cup with La Rochelle.

"Yeah, it would be a great job I think actually, what a team', O'Gara said

"I think there's so much potential there, serious rugby players, serious passion for the game in England. It's a cracking job. You'd love to have a go at that."

#DEFENCE COACH: Shaun Edwards

Fans have had to watch the former England rugby league captain won trophies galore with Wales and France, becoming the highest rated defence coach in the world.

Edwards recently revealed the last time he was offered a role with the men in white was way back in 2006.

“You’d have to be asked first,” Edwards told the BT Rugby Tonight panel.

“Yes, in 2006, when Mr Robinson was in charge,” said Edwards when asked he had be asked to join England. “But it was a couple of years after my brother had died, tragically died in a car crash.

“I asked my mother, who passed away herself last year, I said ‘do you think I’m ready, mum?’ Because a bit of downtime, I was head coach at Wasps at the time, super busy, every day, minutes taken up, and she said ‘I don’t think you’re ready’. And it was the right decision.”
