"Detached from planet Earth" - Courtney Lawes deleted tweet after backlash

Courtney Lawes has been slammed on Twitter numerous times with the England captain having to delete tweets on more than one occasion.

One of times he caused outcry was when he suggested the struggle to feed children highlighted by Marcus Rashford could be solved by people 'being financially secure and preferably married before having kids.'

When other Twitter users replied with screenshots of the deleted tweet, Lawes said: 'Wasn't aiming to offend anyone. It was clearly just a suggestion that I genuinely thought could help. Looks like I was wrong.'

He later deleted the tweet.

#3. Brett Sharman

The Northampton hooker, who was at the centre of a storm over a racial tweet concerning double Olympic champion, Mo Farah, had his contract terminated by the club in August 2012.

The message read: ‘Good luck Mohammed running for Paki...I mean Great Britain.”

The offensive message was quickly taken down with Sharman closing his account

#4. Tom Isaacs

The 37-year-old, who then played for Ospreys, made the comment in 2014 when he described performance analyst Marc Carter as a "faggot".

Isaacs's original tweet, which he later deleted, read: "Pleasantly surprised by @Sparky_Carter86 in the gym today. Looks like a faggot but can shift a bit of tin."

#5. David Campese

Campese was slammed former Wallabies for suggesting a woman should not report on rugby for one of Australia's biggest newspapers back in 2012.

“Why does the smh get a girl to write about rugby. Growden who was a great jornio and now we have someone who has no idea about the game!” he wrote on his Twitter account.
