The fly-half is the heartbeat and playmaker of most teams. They are therefore often the most influential player on the pitch as they coordinate the team’s performance and more often than not are the goal-kickers.

An absolute superstar. He didn’t quite steal the show during the Lions series, but still provided enough moments of individual brilliance to underline his status as the game’s most exciting talent. His goal-kicking was the Achilles heel, but the World Player of the Year is still a very credible nominee.

The European player of the year after guiding England and Saracens to more silverware, Farrell didn’t hit the heights many had anticipated in New Zealand, but he held his nerve when it mattered in front of goal. Will be back wearing the Lions shirt in South Africa in four years time.

Nicknamed ‘The Iceman’ for his coolness under pressure at key moments, the fly-half was one of the stars of the 2015 Rugby World Cup and is now firmly established as the Wallabies’ pivot, providing an exciting runner option together with an astute kicking game.

Fly-half Jonathan Sexton exploded onto the scene when he won his first cap for Ireland against Fiji in November 2009 scoring 16 points (five conversions and two penalty goals), kicking seven out of seven. He has since gone on to amass 481 points in 51 caps, winning two six nations titles in 2014 and 2015 while also starring for the British and Irish Lions tours in 2013 and 2017.

The Springbok number ten has emerged as a genuine contender, kicking the Lions to back-to-back Super Rugby finals. He has a dangerous sidestep, fantastic pace and reliable goal kicking...he has it all.

An astute kicker and a strong defender, Biggar provides a consistent option for Wales in the number 10 shirt, and has proven he can compete at the top level for club and country.
