Rugby World Cup 2023 host confirmed: World Rugby held the vote in London at lunchtime

A last ditch bid to win votes for Ireland to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup has come up short today after World Rugby held their vote in London this lunchtime.

A damaging independent technical report released the week before last put in Ireland in third place behind South Africa and France.

And today they confirmed the 2023 Rugby World CUp, which is the tenth edition of the tournament, will be held in FRANCE.

France has staged the competition twice before – in 1991 and 2007.

South Africa last hosted the World Cup in 1995, when the Springboks beat New Zealand 15-12 in the final, and Ireland was one of the five hosts in 1991.
