RUMOUR | 2003 World Cup winner linked with top job at Wasps

World Cup-winner Joe Worsley has been linked with a return to his former club Wasps.

This comes after it was announced that Dai Young, who had been in charge since 2011, is to ‘step back’ from first-team duties with the Coventry-based Premiership club for an unspecified period.

And today, The Rugby Paper has reported that Worsley has been approached about re-joining Wasps ahead of next season.

Worsley is a Wasps legend, winning four Premiership titles and two Heineken Cups during his playing days in Black and Gold.

On the coaching side, the 42-year-old spent seven years at Bordeaux Begles working his way up to head coach before becoming Georgia’s technical adviser for the the Rugby World Cup.

He is now currently employed by another Top 14 club, Castres, as defence coach.
