  • Sale have completed a deal to sign Bath a hooker Rob Webber
  • The England hooker will join the Sharks from next season on a two-year deal
  • The 29-year-old has won 16 caps for his country
Sale Sharks have made their first signing of the season with England hooker Rob Webber joining from Bath on a two-year contract for next season.

The 29-year-old, who was part of England’s 2015 World Cup squad, will help fill the void left by the departure of Tommy Taylor, who is set to confirm his departure to Wasps later today

Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said: “Rob fits perfectly into what we are trying to create at the club. He is a talented all-round player, who is great at the set-piece and very mobile in the loose. He is at the top of his game and will bring with him a wealth of experience.”.

Webber, who has won 16 Test caps to date, will bring a wealth of experience with him when he arrives at the AJ Bell Stadium.

He began his career with Leeds Carnegie before moving to Wasps where he played more than 100 games.

Webber then joined Bath in 2012 whom he helped reach last season’s Premiership final.
