Arron Reed, a substitute for Sale Sharks, scored a crucial try in the dying moments of the game to secure a thrilling victory for his team.
Despite Sale’s early lead of 19 points, Bath had nearly pulled off a comeback win before Reed’s try secured Sale’s hold on second place in the Premiership.
Sharks had a commanding lead after 32 minutes, having secured a bonus point with tries from Joe Carpenter, Sam Dugdale, Tom Roebuck and Tommy Taylor, and appeared on track for an easy home victory.
However, Bath, who remained in tenth place, mounted a strong comeback, with scores from Niall Annett, Jonathan Joseph, and captain Ben Spencer, as they aimed for a surprise away win.
