Sale Sharks’ Nick Schonert, the 32-year-old prop, will be sidelined for the remainder of the Premiership season due to surgery.
The South African underwent a procedure for a bone spur in his foot, which was impacting his Achilles tendon.
Expected to return in October, Schonert’s absence is a blow for Sale, who sit eighth in the Premiership standings, eight points adrift from the play-off spots.
Despite signing a contract extension until 2026 in February, Schonert’s focus now shifts to recovery as Sale prepare to take on Exeter Chiefs this Sunday.
