Sir Clive Woodward on why he thinks James Haskell has been dropped by England

There were plenty of talking points from the Northampton-Wasps match on Saturday, and former England coach Sir Clive Woodward used the match as the perfect opportunity to watch James Haskell.

The back-rower, who was left out of England’s squad for the Autumn Internationals, was once again struggling to recapture his best form despite his sides unexpected victory.

And Woodward, who has been a big fan of the flanker in the past, thinks he has pinpointed the problem.

‘Despite a fine Wasps performance, James Haskell is not quite himself and you can see why Eddie Jones has not included him in the England squad,’ wrote Woodward.

‘He looks too muscular and heavy to me and is not making the impact he has in recent seasons.
