The dynamic flanker, who underwent surgery for a serious hip injury post-World Cup, is reportedly eyeing a comeback with Sale before the current season draws to a close, putting him in contention for England’s tour of Japan and New Zealand.

After enduring a grueling six-hour operation in a bid to salvage his playing future, initial forecasts indicated Curry would likely miss the remainder of the domestic campaign, with concerns looming over an extended period of rehabilitation.

However, recent developments paint a more optimistic picture. Sale’s coaching staff have expressed their confidence in Curry’s progress, noting his return to training and the positive state of his hip. There’s even talk of him potentially featuring in crucial matches towards the season’s end.

Sale’s director of rugby, Alex Sanderson, lauded Curry’s resilience and determination, emphasizing his unparalleled ability to set ambitious yet attainable goals. Sanderson highlighted Curry’s unwavering commitment to overcoming adversity, citing his instrumental role in England’s World Cup campaign despite battling excruciating pain.

Sanderson remarked, “He’s doing really well. He was away in the wilderness rehabbing, for a few months. We would see him come in and go out. But Tom is very much back in the fold, which I’m very grateful for. He is bombing around, his hip looks good and his brother was back in training today as well, which is great. Now there is an outside chance of Tom coming back at the end of this season and making a final or two, if we get there – when we get there!”

Sanderson added, “His brain chemistry is a bit different. His ability to set new horizons and break things down into smaller, achievable goals is unsurpassed. If anyone was going to get over a career-threatening injury, it was going to be Tom. And he’s doing it. I’m not surprised, but I am in awe.”
