“Start rebuilding rugby” – Joe Marler takes aim at RFU boss on Twitter

Speaking to the Telegraph, Bill Sweeney has insisted that he is the right person to keep leading the Rugby Football Union.

Joe Marler, who has been critical of the union in the past seemingly took a stand on social media.

The prop, who has already revealed he will retire from international rugby following the 2023 Rugby World Cup, retweeted a tweet from former player Guy Thompson.

Thompson tweeted: “£600,000 salary a year for a game that is in disarray, a international team ranked 8th in the world, participation dropping and 4 clubs out of business.

“Who is accountable for his job as he should be sacked, an independent review to be carried out and start rebuilding rugby!”
