Head coach Steve Borthwick has announced his 36-player squad for Saturday’s Guinness 6 Nations clash against Wales at Twickenham Stadium.

Genge had to withdraw late from the previous match against Italy due to a foot problem, but there is hope for his return.

“I’d be really hopeful that Ellis is available for next weekend,” said England boss Steve Borthwick.

“He trained on Thursday and felt something. He had a scan on his foot on Friday morning.

“There was a small, acute recurrence of something that happened in the past.

“On Friday night we got the result of the scan back and he was ruled out on Saturday morning.

“I really hope he will be available next weekend.”

Meanwhile, Leicester lock George Martin, on the other hand, may have a slight chance of recovering in time to play against Wales, as revealed by Borthwick. However, it remains uncertain as he battles back from a minor knee issue, making it a long shot for his participation.

Unfortunately, Harlequins fly-half Marcus Smith won’t be available to play against Wales, still dealing with a calf problem.
