Speaking on RugbyPass TV’s Walk the Talk with Jim Hamilton, Rees-Zammit opened up about the harsh reality of the NFL. In a candid conversation, he explained how the Chiefs cut him from the squad during training camp, saying it was a “cut-throat” experience.
“You just get a text message telling you to bring your iPad and meet in a certain room,” he said. “That’s when you know—it’s brutal.”
Despite the tough end to his Chiefs chapter, Rees-Zammit is now with the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad and remains positive about his NFL journey.
The Swift Surprise: A Handwritten Note from the Pop Icon
In a surprising twist, Rees-Zammit revealed that while with the Chiefs, Taylor Swift—the partner of Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce—wrote him a personal note.
“I didn’t get to meet her, but I got a handwritten letter,” he said. “It was before training camp, and she just wished me good luck for the season.”
The note, now tucked away safely at his home in Cardiff, is a reminder of the star-studded world Rees-Zammit found himself in. He added, “It was pretty crazy, getting a letter from Taylor Swift. That was kind of the life I was in.”
