The key question here is would he go back to a club that he had so much bad feeling towards after he was sacked in 2004? There is also the question of whether Richards would consider leaving Newcastle, where he seems very settled.

Following England’s Rugby World Cup failure, Stuart Lancaster has begun to re-establish himself as a top coach since joining Leinster. Lancaster seemed to be in the running for any and every job in both hemispheres before the Irish side offered him the role as senior coach. His philosophy and work ethic may match up well with a historic club like Tigers.

A real unlikely scenario, but the former England boss was named in the Leicester Tigers team of the century. He almost returned to rugby with France a few years ago, so if the money and opportunity is right the World Cup winner is clearly still interested in another challenge. If Leicester really want to get back to winning things, this would be a huge appointment.
