The eligibility status of the Italian-born, English-raised winger with Australian heritage, determined by the three-way test, has intrigued many since his breakthrough season with the title-winning Harlequins a few seasons back.

Despite his younger brother opting for the Wallabies, Louis appears determined to pursue a call-up to the England team.

Lynagh said: “The most important thing is if I translate what I have learned in England camp to playing for Harlequins and playing well, that is all I can do and whoever I play for,

“But I would love to play England,”
