Transfer Rumours: Danny Cipriani on the verge of Wasps exit

Danny Cipriani said he would wait until January to make a decision on his future but his lack of inclusion in the recent two-day England training camp for the Six Nations has reportedly pushed him nearer to the exit door.

Rugby Pass has reported that there is significant interest from a number of Top 14 sides, who are ready to temp Cipriani across the channel.

The list includes Lyon, Stade Français and Toulon, who all have the financial muscle to offer him a more lucrative deal than Wasps can, with the Premiership side already spending big to retain Elliot Daly and Joe Launchbury in recent months.

Cipriani has also previously been linked with a move back to Sale Sharks, who are still trying to add a world-class number 10 to their ranks.

However, should he choose to make the move across the Channel, no one could blame him for failing to secure an international recall.

The timing of his upturn in form and maturing as a rugby player has unfortunately coincided with the rises of Owen Farrell and George Ford as England’s preferred playmakers.
