Quins Could Have Signed A Double Title Winner In Latest Deal

With twelve games played in this season's English Gallagher Premiership campaign, the battle at the top between Northampton Saints and Bath has taken most of the headlines, but that is not the only intriguing thing about Rugby Union this term as we edge ever nearer to June's curtain closer.

Just like the English Premier League for those who chase down bitcoin football betting tips, next season's Rugby Union campaign already looks like it is shaping up to be another entertaining ones for fans of the sport, and it has just been confirmed that Harlequins are looking for a lot better than they will achieve this year as they have announced the capture of England and Northampton Saints full back George Furbank.

The 29 year old will make the switch to the Twickenham Stoop at the end of this campaign in readiness for the new term, and the capture of his services is quite the coup for Quins, particularly with them currently sitting second bottom of the league having only picked up three wins from the 12 encounters.

For Furbank, it is a bit of an unfortunate change of circumstances that were out of his control as at the beginning of last season his progress at Northampton had seen him named as captain, but a subsequent arm fracture caused him to sit out much of the 2024/25 campaign. Although he has still featured 11 times for the league leaders this year, they are obviously looking to move on now, and a fresh start for both may be exactly what the proverbial doctor ordered.

Having been given his debut at international level by Eddie Jones, first starting during the 2020 Six Nations title winning campaign in the clash with France, he now has 14 international caps to his name for England and he will leave Northampton after a full decade at the club. He will obviously be given a fond farewell by their fans and will likely be welcome back at any point other than when he faces them on the pitch in the future.

Going out as a title winner at Franklin's Gardens following a career best campaign that saw them lift the Championship trophy in 2023/24 would be made even more fitting if they can clinch the win this year with him having the armband, and it would be the perfect way for him to close out that chapter of his life.

Quins head coach Jason Gilmore is delighted with the signing and admitted that he had been admired and on their radar for a long time, so he was pleased that they were finally able to get something over the line and get him through the doors.

We will have to see what happens for the remainder of the title challenge now as only a point separates Saints from Bath, but he will undoubtedly provide his new club with a huge lift on his arrival and then we will have to see what kind of improvement that may spark in them.
