“Used to be friends” – Former Leicester teammate burns Ellis Genge on WhatsApp

Former Leicester captain Ellis Genge shared a brutal WhatsApp exchange with former teammate Jack van Poortvliet after they game head-to-head this weekend.

Tigers strengthened their grip on a top four place with a thrilling 46-24 bonus-point win over fellow play-off hopefuls Bristol Bears at Welford Road.

The hosts ran away with the game late on to move to within three points of second-placed Sale thanks to a fifth consecutive win.

Bears, who themselves had won four on the bounce before travelling to Welford Road, remain in the mix for a top-four spot, but stay seventh with only three games remaining.

“No Marcus Smith” – How England would line-up under Andy Farrell

Andy Farrell praised the joined-up thinking of Irish rugby and insisted he has no reason to return home for a job in England.

Since being sacked by the RFU after the 2015 World Cup, Farrell has forged a reputation as one of the game’s leading coaches, steering Ireland to No 1 in the world rankings.

England made enquiries about bringing him back to Twickenham when Eddie Jones was sacked, but was told where to go by their former employee.

Below, we take a look at the team we think Farrell would name considering his current Ireland selection.
