Wales have been rocked by a late injury to Gareth Anscombe

  • Gareth Anscombe has reportedly been ruled out of Wales clash with Ireland
  • The news broke just hours before kick-off
  • Wales have refused to confirm the news
  • Liam Williams will likely replace the Kiwi at fullback
Wales have been rocked by a late injury to Gareth Anscombe, with Liam Williams poised to come in as replacement says reports.

News of the Kiwi-born star’s plight emerged just a couple of hours before kick-off at the Aviva Stadium. Anscombe had been due to start at full-back.

His unavailability has meant Williams being parachuted in from outside the squad but it was initially unclear whether the Scarlets man, who has had just one game back for his region following a lengthy spell out with a foot injury, will start the game.

Gatland could also move Williams to the bench and go with someone like Rhys Priestland, who is fit and ready to go.

Wales have refused to confirm the news as they make their way to the Aviva Stadium for kick-off, but it’s believed they have been forced into a hasty reshuffle
