Wales International Gareth Anscombe hospitalised with registration for club cancelled

Gareth Anscombe disclosed that he will be out of action for a period of eight to 10 weeks following surgery for a groin issue.

This development coincides with the cancellation of the fly-half’s registration with his new Japanese club, Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath, due to his injury.

In response to Anscombe’s absence, the Tokyo-based team has secured the services of Argentine rugby star Nicolas Sanchez as the replacement for the No.10 position in their squad.

The initial injury occurred during the warm-up before Wales’ World Cup clash with Georgia earlier this year, prompting Anscombe to undergo groin surgery shortly after his arrival in Japan.

Anscombe said: “Devastated to find out the groin injury I sustained around the time of the World Cup meant I required minor surgery, but happy to say it went well and I should be back up and running in the next 8-10 weeks. Mixed emotions right now, but I’m focused on getting myself back fit.”
