Gloucester hooker Motu Matu’u appeared to be knocked out from a blow to the head and initially carried on playing before going off for a head injury assessment and then returning to the field again eight minutes later.
Another rugby HIA fail: Matu’u knocked out, allowed to play on, finally taken out, passes HIA, goes back in, then FINALLY pulled. Watch: pic.twitter.com/yFH8gOXahc

Director of rugby David Humphreys said: “I haven’t seen it at all, I wasn’t on the coms but our discussion was that he picked up a stinger, he was then taken off for a HIA off the back of what footage had been seen, he passed that in the dressing room and was then able to come back onto the pitch.”

Motu Matu’u out cold and Matthew Carley allows him to play on. Now taken off. Horrendous moment of game management and player safety.

No way Matu’u should be on the pitch. TAKE HIM OFF SOMEONE, he’s in terrible danger here #glawsfamily

How have @gloucesterrugby allowed Matu’u to continue after that head injury? Was clearly knocked out. Shocking.

Matu’u should have come off straight away. Very poor concussion protocols there #BATvGLO

Really poor from Glaws medics, management and officials not to get Matu’u straight off there. He was spark out.

For the first time in a very long time, I can watch no more. What a shambles. And Matu’u should never have been allowed back on! #BATHvGLOS
