Not long before Sir Clive Woodward’s men won the World Cup, England recorded their first victory in New Zealand for 30 years with a superb defensive display at the Westpac Trust Stadium, Wellington.
It was a superb defensive performance that laid the foundations for the historic win most notably when the tourists were reduced to the thirteen men just after the break with successive yellow cards for Neil Back and then Lawrence Dallaglio.
And Will Greenwood has been reminiscing about how important that game was in their road to World Cup glory.
I know it’s a @lionsofficial tour but a history lesson @EnglandRugby and the moment Clive and Martin’s team knew they could win World Cup. pic.twitter.com/gBqrclTAK6
