Gloucester Rugby have confirmed that tighthead prop Kirill Gotovtsev, has extended his time at Kingsholm. Gotovtsev had an unusual journey to professional rugby, with successful spells in freestyle wrestling as well as being a brakeman in bobsled before taking up the sport.
Gotovtsev joined Gloucester Rugby in 2021 and has gone on to make 55 appearances for the Cherry and Whites. Gotovtsev has played in 16 games already this season, playing an important role in the forward pack’s impressive scrummaging performances, under the guidance of Trevor Woodman.
Gloucester Rugby Director of Rugby, George Skivington, was delighted to see the prop remain at the club.
“Kirill has been a great player for us at set-piece and around the field, so we’re delighted to keep him here at Kingsholm.
“Our scrum has been particularly impressive, not just this season, but for the last couple of years, and Kirill has played a huge role in that.”
