“Will depart in coming weeks” – Kevin Sinfield set for shock new coaching role

There are rumours connecting the revered Leeds Rhinos icon, Kevin Sinfield, to a surprising transfer to Harlequins as he prepares to depart from England Rugby Union.

Having bid farewell to Leeds Rhinos in 2021 to join Leicester Tigers, Sinfield, alongside Steve Borthwick, successfully led the Tigers to the title in 2022. Following this accomplishment, the dynamic coaching duo attracted attention and were subsequently recruited by England.

The Times Reported: “Harlequins are interested in speaking to Kevin Sinfield about joining them as a coach when he leaves his England role, as they prepare to lose Jerry Flannery to the Springboks.

“It is understood that Flannery, the 45-year-old former Ireland hooker, is set to leave Quins mid-season and join South Africa — reuniting with the former Munster coach Rassie Erasmus. He has been lined up as the Springboks’ next defence coach, replacing his great friend Felix Jones, who now coaches England, having helped South Africa to win back-to-back World Cups.

“It is believed that Flannery will leave Harlequins in the coming weeks, with his last match likely to be the friendly against Munster on February 23.

“South Africa want Flannery to start soon, alongside their new attack coach, Tony Brown, the New Zealander who has coached Japan, so they can hit the ground running in the summer. The Boks are looking to play a standalone Test against Wales at Twickenham in June, and have confirmed home matches against Portugal and Ireland, twice, in July. The Rugby Championship starts in August.”

“Games within games” – Joe Marler ranks rugby’s three biggest sh**houses

Whether he’s grabbing Alun Wyn Jones by the family jewels or redoing his shoelace, Joe Marler has established himself as the master of mind games down the years.

“I love games within games,” revealed Marler to The Times when discussing the Springboks tactics during the summer series against the Lions.

He added: “Very few have mastered this art. I like to think I’m one of them.”

When asked to name the three biggest shithouses he’d come across in his career in a recent Q&A, the results were unsurprising if we’re being honest.

#1. Dan Biggar

Marler became close friend with Biggar during the 2017 Lions tour, and famously gave the Welshman a b**lock naked cuddle following a World Cup warm-up game between England and Wales.

However, Biggar is the epitome of players you hate until they are on your team. The way the fly-half continues to moan to referees vociferously has seemingly only got worse throughout his career.

It got so bad that popular online personality and diehard Scotland fan Glove39 made a video called ‘birdman’ mocking the way in which he always raises his arms in frustration to officials. It’s no shock Marler namechecked him!
