Will Greenwood names Premiership team of the season – including 3 Exeter stars

Exeter Chiefs have been the dominant runaway leaders during the 2019/20 Premiership season – but only three of their players have made England legend Will Greenwood’s team of the season.

Writing in The Telegraph, the World Cup winner selected four Bristol Bears stars in his XV.

Here’s who he has selected, along with our alternative (arguably better) Premiership team of the season:

BACK-THREE

Charles Piutau (Bristol Bears), Zach Kibirige (Wasps), Louis Rees-Zammit (Gloucester)

What he said:

PIUTAU: “Possibly the easiest selection of the lot. Piutau tops the charts in the backs for carries, defenders beaten, metres and offloads.”

KIBIRIGE & REES-ZAMMIT: ” LRZ is the fastest thing I have seen in the Premiership, ever. Lightning fast. Kibirige, while quick, specialises in twinkle toes in confined spaces.”

RUCK’s alternative picks: Stuart Hogg (Exeter Chiefs), Ollie Thorley (Gloucester), Ruaridh McConnochie (Bath Rugby)

CENTRE

Ollie Lawrence (Worcester Warriors), Sam James (Sale Sharks)

What he said:

LAWRENCE: “On the back foot regularly in the Worcester midfield, he single-handedly takes on top-class defensive units and scares the living daylights out of them.”

JAMES: “He has a great skill set, and is probably quicker than he looks but makes up for it with his nous.”

RUCK’s alternative picks: Semi Radradra (Bristol Bears), Malakai Fekitoa (Wasps)
