England’s former World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Woodward and centre Will Greenwood have defended Nigel Owens after the Welsh referee took an extraordinary social media slamming.
Owens’ performance was defended by Ireland legend Paul O’Connell, who was appearing on BBC as a pundit for the game.
He said: “For my eyes, I thought Nigel Owens had a good game.”
And he was backed up by Greenwood.
Embarrassed by some of the comments made towards @Nigelrefowens – Watched game for second time – particular focus on key decisions… @EnglandRugby can have no complaints about @Scotlandteam win. Many things to blame – None of them Nigel.
