Will Hurrell has agreed on a deal to join Bristol Rugby ahead of the upcoming Aviva Premiership campaign.

The centre – who arrives from Doncaster Knights – links up with his new team-mates at the Clifton RFC training base on Wednesday.

One of the standout performers during the 2015/16 Championship season, Hurrell scored in both legs of the final versus Bristol.

The 26-year-old’s barnstorming displays were rewarded with a place in the Championship team of the year.

“We’re pleased to welcome Will into the Club. He’s a powerful ball carrier who played a key role in Doncaster’s superb campaign and second placed finish,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson told bristolrugby.co.uk.

“Will delivered two very good displays in the play-off final and he caught the eye with his ability to break the gain line. Will has performed consistently in the Championship and his emergence shows what quality there is in that league. He has earned this opportunity and we are confident he can make an impact in the top flight.”

A former England U20, Hurrell came through the ranks at Leicester Tigers, before enjoying spells at London Welsh, Rotherham and Doncaster.

He added: “I’m looking forward to joining Bristol and having the opportunity to test myself in the Aviva Premiership.

“There’s a quality squad here and a great culture – I’m excited to be a part of it. Having experienced the atmosphere at Ashton Gate in that second leg, it’s an inspiring place to play rugby.

“I’m grateful to Doncaster Knights and enjoyed my time there; I would like to thank the players, coaches and staff for their support.”
