World Champion Red Roses head back to the grass roots clubs this weekend for RugbyFest

Fresh from their Women’s Rugby World Cup triumph on home soil, the Red Roses are set to swap the international stage for local clubs as part of RugbyFest (3–6 October 2025) – a nationwide celebration of grassroots rugby.

Hundreds of clubs across England will host taster sessions, family fun days and mini festivals, with the Red Roses themselves visiting communities to meet young players, inspire future stars, and celebrate with fans. The initiative forms a key part of the RFU’s Impact ’25 legacy programme, supported by the National Lottery, which is investing millions into growing women’s and girls’ rugby through to 2027.

Steve Grainger, RFU Executive Director of Rugby Development, said:

“2025 has been a huge year for women’s rugby in England, with record-breaking attendances and a tremendous uplift in women and girls’ participation. RugbyFest is a fantastic opportunity for communities to come together, and for our Red Roses to give back to the fans and inspire a new generation.”

Andria Vidler, Chief Executive of Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, added:

“Through playing The National Lottery the public have been backing women’s rugby and the Red Roses for over 20 years – raising £6b for grassroots sport. We’re delighted to support RugbyFest and create another opportunity for people to discover a love for rugby.”
