Worcester Warriors will be suspended from all competitions unless they prove to the Rugby Football Union they have a “credible” plan for the future by Monday evening.
The troubled club has to prove it can safely stage this Saturday’s match with Newcastle by 12:00 on Thursday.
Many of the club’s non-playing staff are also still waiting for their full pay for August, having received only 65% of their salaries.
This led to a viral tweet from a member of the Warriors media team during tonight’s Premiership Cup clash.
They wrote: “52m | That’s 65% of the match played. So we are clocking off for the night and heading back to the ranch.”
The move was universally praised by followers with Gloucester prop Jamal Ford-Robinson replying: “dear admin, keep this up and you’ll have no problem finding another gig. might even get paid in full too. sincerely, rugby twitter.”
A supporter added: “Tweet of the year!”
“Whatever the owners say / threaten, rest assured every Warriors supporter has your back. Incredible tweet,” comment a second.
A third said: “Whatever the owners say / threaten, rest assured every Warriors supporter has your back. Incredible tweet.”
