5 players you might not realise are playing in Major League Rugby

Former Exeter Chiefs and Newcastle Falcons men are among the former Gallagher Premiership players you may not have realised are now plying their trade in MLR.

1. Pedrie Wannenburg

He previously represented the South African Bulls in the southern hemisphere Super 14 competition, in a team record consecutive run of 99 matches, spanning seasons 2002 to 2010 with a total of 106 matches for them. He then joined Ulster before two successful stints in France with Castres and Oyonnax. In 2016, Wannenburg signed to the Denver Stampede in early 2016, and currently captains the team.

2. Cathal Marsh

The former Ireland U20 and Leinster lock joined Rugby Union New York ahead of the 2019 MLR season.

3. Dave Gannon

Gannon is a rugby union player from Ireland. He primarily plays as a lock, but has also played in the back row. Gannon currently plays with Rugby United New York, who will join Major League Rugby in 2019. The forward started his career with his native province of Leinster, and spent the bulk of his career with Connacht across two spells with the side. He also spent a season with Southland Stags in New Zealand and two seasons with English side Exeter Chiefs.
