The Wasps hooker was called up to England’s 2016 Six Nations Championship squad as injury cover for Jamie George and would make his England debut that Spring as a replacement against Wales in May.
However, he didn’t play much rugby in the two years that followed with his career being badly affected by knee and shoulder injuries. The 28-year-old, who re-joined Sale Sharks this summer, has since got his career back on track, but has struggled to get himself back into the England reckoning.
