David Halaifonua was sent off for Gloucester as they were convincingly beaten by Wasps at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday.
Elliot Daly delivered Wasps the lead with the first kick at goal, striking the ball between the posts from beyond the half way line after three minutes, 3-0.
The hosts then opened the try scoring when wing Christian Wade finished off a slick team move for his first try of the season after 19 minutes. Some great combination play between Daly, Charles Pitau and Wade ended with the speedster using his blistering pace to touch down between the posts. Ruaridh Jackson added the simple conversion to give Wasps a 10-point lead.
Daly added another six points for Wasps from the tee before half-time, striking two more spectacular penalties from long-range, 16-0.
This was the first time Gloucester had failed to score a point in the first half of a Premiership game since against Sale Sharks back in October 2011.
And problems continued to grow for the Cherry and Whites after the restart when David Halaifonua was sent off after just five minutes for a high and late tackle on Bradley Davies.
Gloucester though did finally get on the board a minute later with Greig Laidlaw sending over a penalty for the visitors, 16-3.
However, Wasps extended their lead further when they scored their second try of the game after 52 minutes. This time it was a penalty, which was awarded after the hosts superb driving maul, marshaled by George Smith, reached the Gloucester try line before being illegally collapsed. And Daly kicked the conversion to extend their lead to 20-points.
Wasps tighthead Lorenzo Cittadini was the sent off after replays showed his fist had caught Gloucester captain Billy Twelvetrees around the throat as the pair wrestled for possession. The hots though held on to secure their second win of the season.
