Harlequins and England prop Joe Marler banned for two weeks for kick

  • Harlequins prop was charged with kicking Grenoble hooker Arnaud Heguy 
  • The clash occurred in the Challenge Cup semi-final last Friday 
  • Marler had only just returned following ‘gipsy’ slur at Samson Lee
  • But he is now free to play in England’s tour to Australia in June
England prop Joe Marler has been banned for two weeks after being found guilty of kicking a player in the head.

The 25-year-old was seen kicking hooker Arnaud Heguy in the 30-6 European Challenge Cup win over Grenoble.

Marler was playing his first game following a two-week ban for his “Gypsy boy” slur against Wales’ Samson Lee , but has courted fresh controversy following the clash with Heguy in the 26th minute.

He will now miss Harlequins’ last two Premiership games, but will be free to play in the Challenge Cup final and England’s game with Wales in May.

Meanwhile, Wasps prop Simon McIntyre was also handed a two-week suspension for kicking Saracens lock Maro Itoje in the Champions Cup semifinal at the Madejski Stadium in contravention of Law 10.4 (c).
