Bath fans and players pay tribute to departing former captain Guy Mercer
Bath flanker and former captain Guy Mercer have been released from his contract by the Premiership club.
The 28-year-old played 123 games after arriving at The Rec in 2010 and skippered the side in 2016-17.
Here’s how social media reacted:
Met @GuyMercer on day one. Never thought we’d get on, but every game we played and adventure we had it was a pleasure to do by your side.
Wasn’t the same when @tombiggs11 left and now you’ve gone to. Thanks for everything you helped with mate. Here’s to life on the other side! https://t.co/u5VhskemEq

Guy Mercer leaving Bath is an odd one. Do they have a replacement en route? Where’s he headed? Pretty sure there’s gonna be a fair few clubs interested….#rugbyunited

Can only imagine the morale in the squad. Banners treated badly and now this. Not the best Bath!!
